Assessing Psychological Needs And Study Satisfaction Of University Students In Light Of Self- Determination Theory

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the levels of psychological needs based on Self- Determination Theory (competence, autonomy, belongingness) and study satisfaction among students majoring in Social Sciences at the University of Oum El Bouaghi. Additionally, it sought to investigate the relationship between the psychological needs scale (competence, autonomy, belongingness) and the study satisfaction scale. The researchers employed a descriptive research approach and administered the psychological needs scale and the study satisfaction scale developed by the researchers themselves to a sample of 267 randomly selected male and female students. The results revealed that: - The level of psychological needs among students majoring in Social Sciences at the University of Oum El Bouaghi was found to be moderate. - The level of study satisfaction among students was also moderate. - There was a statistically significant correlation between psychological needs according to the Self- Determination Theory and study satisfaction
