The Question Of Truth In Pragmatic Philosophy

Abstract
Pragmatism is among the most important, widespread and influential contemporary philosophies. It has a deep influence on the individual and social life, especially Western societies. Although many studies have dealt with this philosophy from its various aspects, many of questions related to it are still raised, such as the legitimacy of the basis on which the pragmatists’ criterion of truth is established and the possibility of undermining it logically. Then, how to justify that pragmatism still have an attractive aspect , which makes it characterized by effectiveness, vitality and adaptation to new facts , and thus, characterized by its specific resistance to criticism? This article is concerned with the problem of truth in pragmatist philosophy, that is, it analyzes the criterion of truth including the historical and cultural background of its formation, with a focus on criticizing this criterion from a logical perspective.
