Local forces and their role in maintaining Ottoman power in Maghreb (18-19AD) Abstract: Many names were given to local forces in Maghreb during the ottoman era such as treating tribes, Makhzan tribes or alliance tribes. Since this kind of forces was a tradition form early age of Islam, it took a special consideration in the Ottoman era between 18-19 century AD, due to the general situation of the region and exterior pressure and the need of these governments to goods. Although their different origins and circumstances of creation, these tribes were organized independently to construct popular agglomeration with military and administrative trait, for moral and material privileges. So that was like reserve army led by Ottoman leaders. In Algeria there was: Abid, Ottamana, Zouatna, Mkahlia, Zemoul, Douair tribes. In Tunisia: Sbaihia, Mzarkia, Zovava. In west Tripoli they were called associated army formed from Korogli Manchia, Mhamid.
