Abstract: This study seeks to analyze the strategy followed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in settling and resolving the conflict in Mali, and the effectiveness of its security mechanisms in achieving a stable security environment in the region, by defining the ECOWAS as a security actor in West Africa region, and its different security structures, In addition to addressing the reasons for the emergence of the conflict in Mali, whose roots go back to the colonial period. The study also aimed to clarify the role of ECOWAS in settling the conflict in Mali, whether at the political or diplomatic level, or military efforts in cooperation with the African Union and the United Nations, and it became clear that the ECOWAS strategy was effective in dealing with the problem of the coup, in contrast to its weakness in addressing the problem of the expansion of armed groups and terrorists.
