Funeral practices in Islamic spaces are permeated with many references to what is spiritual, religious, sacred and metaphysical, which means that there is a special representation of the body on the material level, i.e. (at the level of constructing and building the tomb) to re-appear the body as a form of rooting in the here-earth. Many anthropological and archaeological studies have indicated the existence of funerary stones whose shape resembles the shape of the human body. This practice can be observed in the Ottoman evidence and evidence today. The tombstones are also distributed over the grave according to a division that takes into account the position of the head, the feet and the heart. What is written above the head revolves around the sacred (verses, supplications...). As for what is written above the two legs, it relates to everything related to the deceased (name, surname, date of birth, place of birth, date of death…).
