Writing in the EFL context, is an important skill which poses issues to bath teachers and students. The latter are related to writing as a process in itself, writing instruction, and writing evaluation. Teachers often play different raies in the writing classroom such as instructors, readers, and evaluators. These roles are usually determined by the teacher's consumptions of what makes good writing. Thus, students may feel confused and find difficulties developing stable writing skills especially that what they know about writing and the way they approach the writing task can be challenged each time they are taught by a new teacher of writing. As a result, it is important for teachers of writing, at least those who work at the same department, to agree on specific points related to writing instruction and evduation so that students can develop their writing skills throughout the curriculum horizontally i.e., across different modules such as Literature, Linguistics and Writing as well as other modules and vertically i.e., throughout the different years of their English degree. the present paper aims at discussing how can this aim be achieved focusing on three main points:deciding on a common theoretical ground for writing as a process (what is writing?), determining a commun agenda for writing instruction(how can \Hiting be taught?) and finally developing clear criteria for writing assessment(what makes good writing?). Key words:
EFL writing; writing instruction; writing assessment and writing across the curriculum
