This article presents a needs-based approach to designing CAT tools instruction for second year (L02) undergraduate translation students. Survey data from 39 students revealed strong foundational digital competence (70%+ in file management and office software) but critical gaps in translation technology knowledge (5% prior CAT tool experience, 0% alignment tool awareness). These findings directly informed an eight-module curriculum progressing from foundational concepts through professional workflows. The article demonstrates how survey-driven needs analysis can align translator training with both learner readiness and professional workplace demands.
