Digital Journalism Between Professional Standards And The Constraints Of The New Media Economy: A Critical Perspective

Abstract: This paper critically examines the structural tensions between journalistic professional standards and the economic imperatives of the new digital media landscape, drawing on Bourdieu's field theory, the political economy of communication, and the attention economy framework, Through a systematic critical-analytical review of peer-reviewed literature published between 2015 and 2025, the study identifies four structural manifestations of this tension: clickbait journalism, the subordination of editorial agendas to search engine optimisation, the erosion of investigative reporting, and the blurring of editorial and commercial content boundaries. The analysis demonstrates that the decline of professional standards is not a technological inevitability but a product of specific structural choices amenable to revision. The paper concludes with evidence-based recommendations applicable to the Algerian and Arab media contexts, arguing that rebuilding institutional buffers against market pressure is the foundational condition for sustainable quality journalism. الملخص: تتناول هذه الدراسة النقدية التوترات البنيوية بين المعايير المهنية للصحافة ومتطلبات الاقتصاد الإعلامي الرقمي الجديد، مستندةً إلى ثلاثة أطر نظرية متكاملة: نظرية الحقول عند بورديو، والاقتصاد السياسي للاتصال، وإطار اقتصاد الانتباه، وتعتمد المراجعة النقدية التحليلية المنهجية للأدبيات العلمية المحكّمة المنشورة بين عامي 2015 و2025 منهجا رئيسيا لها، وتكشف الدراسة عن أربعة مظاهر بنيوية لهذا التوتر: صحافة النقر الإثاري، وهيمنة محركات البحث على الأجندة التحريرية، وتآكل الصحافة الاستقصائية، وتلاشي الحدود بين المحتوى التحريري والإعلاني، وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن تراجع المعايير المهنية ليس حتميةً تكنولوجية بل نتيجة خيارات بنيوية قابلة للمراجعة،وتقدم في ختامها توصيات قابلة للتطبيق في السياقين الجزائري والعربي.
