To address low information literacy and technological apprehension among language majors learning Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, this paper proposes a collaborative task-based teaching module. Implemented in a CAT course of a Chinese university, the module immersed students in simulated translation projects through guided collaborative exercises and a capstone group project. Students utilized multiple CAT and machine translation tools to translate specific genres, culminating in reflective presentations analyzing their processes and challenges. Evaluation through objective assessment and subjective feedback demonstrated marked improvement in technical proficiency and strategic tool application. Students reported enhanced critical awareness, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. This practice effectively bridges theory and application, offering a replicable framework for developing both technical and critical competencies essential for the modern language industry.
