Towards A Sustainable Vision For The Development Of Ecotourism In The Iraqi Marshlands: Strategies And Mechanisms

Résumé

This study aims to identify strategies and mechanisms for sustainable tourism development in promoting ecotourism, with a focus on marshland tourism. It also aims to identify the challenges facing its development and propose effective strategies to enhance its sustainability. Given the weak implementation of ecotourism in the Iraqi marshlands, the problem of the study lies in the following question: What are the strategies for developing sustainable tourism in the implementation of ecotourism in the Iraqi marshlands? Our current study relied on a descriptive approach to achieve its objectives. The importance of the study lies in identifying the concept of sustainable tourism development and marsh tourism and introducing the Iraqi marshes. The study concluded that there are many challenges that hinder the development of ecotourism in the marshes, such as the lack of tourism infrastructure, weak tourism promotion, and environmental degradation. To achieve sustainable development, the study recommends implementing strategies, the most important of which is involving the local community in tourism activities to enhance economic and social benefits. It also recommends using sustainable tourism marketing by promoting eco-tourism in the marshes at the local and international levels.
