Phonetic Connotations In The Poetry Of Mufdi Zakaria: “the Poem Of The Ascending Sacrifice” As A Case Study

Language is a unique phenomenon, as it distinguishes humans from other creatures; it is a phenomenon worthy of scientific study. For this reason, human thought has, since its earliest days, taken an interest in the linguistic phenomenon and sought to study it through various methods and approaches. Among the issues that have preoccupied scholars and continued to recur in many linguistic debates is is the relationship between form and meaning. The relationship between the phonological and morphological levels has received significant attention and has occupied the research of scholars and researchers. For this reason, we have decided to elucidate the nature of this relationship in an applied manner, so we selected a poetic text, namely the poem “The Ascending Sacrifice” by Mufdi Zakaria, to attempt to identify the mechanism by which phonemes perform a semantic role. From this perspective, we pose the following question: To what extent can the phonological level perform a semantic role with an aesthetic dimension? From its very beginnings, linguistic study has been characterized by a focus on scientific precision through experimentation and observation, meaning a departure from objectivity. Arabic linguistic research, in particular, has focused on “determining meaning and the meanings and purposes contained in the Holy Quran,” for the concern of Arabic studies—in their various branches and designations, such as morphology, syntax, and rhetoric—has been the knowledge of meaning.”¹ The issue of defining meaning is one of the central themes of debate among scholars. In linguistics, semantics has been divided into different types based on the “inputs involved in forming the meaning of speech, where the speaker finds different semantic dimensions within a single sentence.”² Scholars have classified semantics into five types as follows: “Phonological, morphological, lexical, and syntactic semantics” 3. To analyze phonological semantics, we shed light on phonological semantics to reveal the relationship between sound and its meaning. تُعدّ اللغة ظاهرة فريدة، إذ تميّز الإنسان عن سائر الكائنات؛ وهي ظاهرة جديرة بالدراسة العلمية. لذلك اهتمّ الفكر الإنساني، منذ نشأته الأولى، بالظاهرة اللغوية وسعى إلى دراستها عبر مناهج ومقاربات متعدّدة. ومن بين القضايا التي شغلت العلماء وتكرّرت في العديد من النقاشات اللغوية مسألة العلاقة بين الشكل والمعنى. وقد حظيت العلاقة بين المستويين الصوتي والصرفي باهتمام كبير، وشغلت حيّزًا واسعًا من أبحاث الدارسين والباحثين. ولهذا ارتأينا توضيح طبيعة هذه العلاقة بشكل تطبيقي، فاخترنا نصًا شعريًا هو قصيدة «التضحية الصاعدة» لمفدي زكريا، في محاولة للكشف عن الآلية التي تؤدّي بها الأصوات اللغوية دورًا دلاليًا. ومن هذا المنطلق نطرح الإشكال الآتي: إلى أيّ مدى يمكن للمستوى الصوتي أن يؤدّي دورًا دلاليًا ذا بُعد جمالي؟ لقد اتّسمت الدراسات اللغوية منذ بداياتها بالتركيز على الدقّة العلمية من خلال التجريب والملاحظة، أي السعي نحو الموضوعية. وقد ركّز البحث اللغوي العربي، على وجه الخصوص، على «تحديد المعنى والدلالات والمقاصد الواردة في القرآن الكريم»، إذ إنّ اهتمام الدراسات العربية—بمختلف فروعها وتسمياتها، مثل الصرف والنحو والبلاغة—كان منصبًّا على معرفة المعنى. وتُعدّ مسألة تحديد المعنى من أبرز القضايا المحورية التي دار حولها الجدل بين العلماء. وفي اللسانيات، قُسّمت الدلالة إلى أنواع متعدّدة بحسب «المدخلات التي تسهم في تكوين معنى الكلام، حيث يجد المتكلّم أبعادًا دلالية مختلفة داخل الجملة الواحدة». وقد صنّف العلماء الدلالة إلى خمسة أنواع هي: الدلالة الصوتية، والصرفية، والمعجمية، والتركيبية. ومن أجل تحليل الدلالة الصوتية، نسلّط الضوء عليها للكشف عن العلاقة بين الصوت ومعناه
