Cooperative Comparative Advantage Between Foreign Firms And Domestic Firms Involving Foreign Investments In Promoting Domestic Exports

Résumé

The article aims to highlight the role of foreign direct investment in Algeria in the non-hydrocarbon exports. In order to reach the aforementioned goal, we used an analytical approach based on revealed comparative advantage. The numerator of Balassa (1965) index is divided into export made by only national companies and export made by partnership between domestic and foreign firms. This distinction will be useful to disentangle exactly the share of national companies or national investment in exports and assess the real national potential in comparative advantage. The results showed that national economy is considered an attractive one since there are many sectors by which foreign companies can invest in it.
