Résumé

This study examines the role of audit committees in limiting earnings management as a key governance mechanism for improving financial transparency. The study combines a theoretical review of earnings management and audit committee characteristics, with a field survey analyzed using SPSS. Due to non-normal data, Spearman’s correlation was used to test the hypotheses. The results show that audit committee independence significantly reduces earnings management, while expertise and meeting frequency also contribute to limiting such practices. The study recommends strengthening the competence and independence of audit committees to enhance the quality of financial reporting within institutions.
