Résumé

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has become increasingly vital in higher education, particularly for arts students who must communicate their creative ideas and projects effectively in a globalized academic and professional context. In Algeria, first-year students in visual and performing arts face challenges in mastering English, especially in oral communication, presentations, and collaborative work, while existing online ESP courses do not adequately meet their discipline-specific needs. This study investigates the need to establish a tailored ESP course design for first-year arts students at the University of Constantine 3 – Salah Boubnider. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods through e-learning platforms, students’ feedback over three consecutive academic years revealed dissatisfaction with the current ESP course and highlighted gaps in addressing both receptive and productive skills, as well as collaborative and project-based learning requirements. The study aims to propose a new ESP course design that aligns with students’ academic and professional needs, integrates task- and project-based approaches, enhances oral proficiency, and promotes collaborative work within a digital learning environment. Findings are expected to guide curriculum development, improve students’ English competence, and strengthen their readiness to participate in professional artistic contexts.
