Résumé

Metaphor serves as an initial gateway into the field of rhetoric, from which atheists criticized the Holy Quran. They believed that using metaphor showed weakness, linguistic inability, and poor eloquence. This article aims to explore the relationship between literal and metaphorical meanings, to better understand the verses of the Quran, and highlight its miraculous qualities through a descriptive-analytical study. Linguists and Quran interpreters have disagreed about the presence of metaphor in the Quranic text; some affirm its presence, while others deny it. Research shows that the literal meaning serves as the foundation from which metaphorical interpretations emerge. Metaphor in the Quran appears as a manifestation of linguistic perfection and divine eloquence.
