Abstract: This research paper examines the challenges of translating Arabic proverbs and sayings into English, given the difficulty of finding suitable and culturally appropriate equivalents in the target language. This will be achieved through a comparative analytical study of examples from the book "Tales of Arabic Proverbs and Sayings" by author Kamal Mohammed Ali. Proverbs and wisdom sayings, a cornerstone of cultural heritage, encapsulates generations of experiences and reflects the distilled essence of a people's history and values. In this regard, translating Arabic proverbs and sayings can serve as an effective means of introducing Arab wisdom and displaying the richness and sophistication of Arab heritage. However, this endeavor requires respecting linguistic and cultural differences, and remains dependent on finding appropriate equivalents that resonate with the target audience. We have concluded that literal translation can sometimes achieve the desired outcome; nevertheless, finding the equivalent proverb or saying in the target culture is the preferable approach.
