Abstract: Political discourse is classified as argumentative communication based on the comprehensive concept of argumentation, which is open to everything that contributes to subjugating the addressee. However, the dominance of emotional influence in political discourse prompts a reconsideration of it from the perspective of the boundaries between persuasion and subjugation. Based on this, this scientific paper sought to demonstrate the centrality of the pathos and its influential structure through two contemporary discourses that provoke contemplation and analysis of the violent aspect of coercion by mobilizing feelings of awe and terror. The study concluded that political discourse aims to influence more than to persuade, which prompts a reconsideration of the problem of describing it as persuasive discourse, and from there to a larger problem related to the crisis of communication in Arab political discourse. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach with a pragmatic-rhetorical background in theory. It also takes a critical approach that primarily seeks to contribute to the creation and rationalization of political communication.
