Résumé

This study delves into the multifaceted realm of modern consumer culture, examining its significance and transformations in today's interconnected world. The study emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of consumer culture, drawing insights from sociology, economics, anthropology, and psychology. Rather than merely focusing on the act of purchasing, this study explores the broader spectrum of global consumption patterns and the subsequent social transformations they induce. Data was gathered through a mixed-method approach, encompassing surveys, social media analyses, and in-depth interviews with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The analysis sheds light on the constructs, norms, and values that shape and are shaped by modern consumer behavior. It was observed that consumer culture is intricately woven with various socio-economic, technological, and cultural threads. Economic disparities influence not just purchasing power but also the values, ethics, and aspirations associated with consumption. The findings underscore the paradoxes inherent in modern consumerism, where globalization offers a plethora of choices, yet also presents ethical and sustainability challenges. In societies where consumption patterns influence and are influenced by broader social transformations, understanding the nuances of consumer culture becomes paramount. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for a more holistic understanding of consumer culture, advocating for sustainable and ethical consumption practices in the face of global challenges.
