Authors : Mohamed Kirat .

Abstract

In 1920 walter lippmann and Charles merz in a study of the coverage of the Russian revolution of 1917 by the New York times, found that the coverage was biased. The journalists relied heavily on government officials and unreliable unnamed sources. Lppman and his co-author concluded that the information provided was inaccurate, far from being objective and from representing the credibility and responsibility of the western press. In the forties kent cooper and james Lawrence fly denounced the domination of the british news agency, reuters, and agence france presse( AFP) for their monopolization of the gathering, and dissemination of international news. Forty years later the same issues have been raised by developing countries. But this time the complaints of developing nations have been rejected, and subject of a heated and controversial debate..
