Abstract

This work was carried out in an arid zone, plain of El-Outaya (North of Biskra, Southeast of Algeria) especially in Bioressource Outaya station of CRSTRA scientific and technical research center of arid area as case study. A part of this plain is irrigated by the dam “Manbaâ El Ghozelan/ Fontaine des Gazelles” with a capacity of 55 Hm3 but It regulates an annual volume of 14 Hm3 to use in land irrigation The water from the dam is intended for the irrigation of the El Hazima perimeter (800 ha) and some taps totaling 280 ha (ANAT, 2004). majority for the southern area of the plain at the foot of Djebel Boughezel. The water of the dam record an evolution of the electrical conductivity which varies from one year to another depending on the climatic conditions, they present a very high risk of salinization and a risk of low sodicity (C3S1 and C4S1) mainly due to increasing the concentration of alkalizing Na + ions in irrigation water with an electrical conductivity EC at 25 ° C varies from 1.52 to 4.65 dS / m, Their characteristic chemical facies varied between chlorinated calcium and magnesium, chlorinated sodium to sodium sulfate and calcium.about this study , we are used and analysed the dam water coming to Outaya’s station Bioressource of CRSTRA situated in outaya plain the site nommed Hzeima This water is not quantitavely suffisant. Geochemical analysis is carried out to know the type of minerals are in solution water by studding the saturation Index SI in using Phreec logiciel, the negative SI values confirm that the geochemical environment is actively favoring mineral dissolution, which is the primary driver of the observed increasing salinity. We can used this water, absolutely with caution, for irrigation’s Outaya plain but it was always insufficient caused by non-organized distribution of rain following the arid area, which led the decision maker to explore the groundwater using boreholes as an alternative solution.
