Abstract

Significant studies across various fields and disciplines focus on women's issues, characteristics, roles, and concerns. This includes the political sphere, specifically their political participation, organization, and involvement in various forms of peaceful demonstrations. Through this, women challenge the difficulties they face in a public space defined and restricted by societies even before the intervention of law enforcement. The social mindset and perceptions surrounding women's participation in demonstrations differ fundamentally from those concerning men. Moreover, their participation as women imbues these demonstrations with unique values. More precisely, their gendered role adds distinctive characteristics to the protest. While advocating for their society's issues and concerns—including women's issues as an integral part of them—they contribute to improving social conditions, elevating women's status to facilitate their participation in various fields, and strengthening national unity. Therefore, the importance of this article lies in highlighting these emerging roles stemming from the participation of Algerian women in peaceful demonstrations and protests in Algerian cities.
