The international migration of highly qualified scientists is an old phenomenon. It represents one of the most significant characteristics of international relations. Nowadays, all countries are affected by this phenomenon of international mobility of scientists. Like all these countries, Algeria is witnessing the phenomenon of the international mobility of scientists. This article aims to examine the migration of Algerian scientists to developed countries. It focuses specifically on high-level scientists holding degrees such as doctorates in medicine, magister’s, and research doctorates (PhDs), namely teacher-researchers, researchers, physicians, and doctoral students in various scientific disciplines. The central question addressed concerns the determinants of the international migration of Algerian scientists to developed countries. Our approach is empirical; it is based on a questionnaire survey conducted among teacher-researchers, researchers working in research centers, physicians, and doctoral students. The questionnaire was distributed online via Facebook and by email. The analysis of the questionnaire data allowed us to observe that the mobility of scientists is explained by economic and social determinants, scientific factors, and other institutional factor.
