الملخص: لم يزل يجري على استعمال ألفاظ العربية ما يجري على سائر اللغات، من تغير دلالات طائفة من الألفاظ، فـيُستعمل اللفظُ عند المتأخر في وجوهٍ لم تكن عند من سبقه. وربما أفضى هذا التغير في الدلالات إلى وقوع اللبس في تفسير كلام العرب، بأن يُحمَّل الاستعمال المتقدم للفظ المعاني المتأخرة عن زمانه، قصدًا أو بـغير قصد، فـيـفضي ذلك إلى تفسير كلام العرب على غير وجهه وتحريفه عن موضعه. وسننظر في هذا البحث في هذه المسألة، متأملين تفسيرَ أهل زماننا لـمعاني طائفةٍ من ألفاظ العربية، وتنزيلَهم إياها في أزمانها. فـنعرف بـذلك قدرَ تبصرهم -عند تفسير كلام العرب- بـتبدل دلالات الألفاظ، والزمان الموافق لكلِّ معنى، ونتأمل ما قد يقع في تفسيرهم من الأوهام لإغفال هذا الأمر. وسيكون ذلك بالنظر في طائفةٍ من معاجم المعاصرين، وفي شيءٍ من تراجمهم لـكلام العرب. ويدلُّ مثل هذا البحث على بابٍ من التحقيق ينبغي أن يتفطن له الناظرون في اللغة، تعليمًا وتحقيقًا وتفسيرًا. ABSTRACT: Like all languages, Arabic has experienced continuous semantic change, whereby certain lexical items have acquired meanings that were not present in earlier periods. Such diachronic shifts can give rise to interpretive difficulties, particularly when later semantic values are unconsciously or consciously projected onto earlier usages, the result is often anachronistic reading and interpretive distortion. The present study addresses this question by examining contemporary interpretations of certain Arabic lexical items and assessing how their meanings have been defined and applied across their respective periods. It seeks to determine the degree of diachronic sensitivity exhibited in the interpretation of classical Arabic texts, particularly with respect to semantic shift and historical contextualisation. The study also analyses the forms of interpretive inaccuracies that may result from insufficient attention to these factors. This will be undertaken through an examination of certain contemporary dictionaries, together with selected examples drawn from different translations of classical Arabic texts. The analysis thus identifies a dimension of critical inquiry that demands the attention of those engaged in the study of classical Arabic, whether in pedagogy, philological inquiry, or interpretive practice.
