Understanding the discourse of the Holy Quran forms the common ground between linguistic, religious, and philosophical sciences, requiring the interpreter to possess a broad knowledge of these disciplines. Rhetorical concepts have been the guiding principle for interpreting the Holy Quran. The integrated approach to Quranic interpretation emerged in the work of Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani, particularly in his theory of arrangement (nazm), which was later utilized by al-Zamakhshari. Fakhr al-Din al-Razi adopted a grammatical approach to Quranic interpretation. Among contemporary rhetorical approaches, we can mention Dr. Aisha Abd al-Rahman, who advocated for a comprehensive rhetorical interpretation, and Muhammad Bazi, who analyzed the discourses of Quranic exegesis and also subscribes to the integrated approach to interpretation. One of the conclusions reached is that interpreting the Holy Quran depends on knowledge of linguistics, literature, religion, and philosophy, as the Quranic text is a multifaceted discourse. Our aim is to highlight the importance of a comprehensive understanding of the Quranic discourse.
