Since the mid-twentieth century, the concept of the paradigm has occupied a central position in epistemological analyses of the history and development of science. Scholars of the philosophy of science widely acknowledge its importance as an interpretive framework for understanding scientific change. Among the most influential contributors to this debate is the American philosopher of science Thomas Kuhn, who decisively challenged the traditional cumulative view of scientific progress. Kuhn advanced an alternative model grounded in discontinuity, arguing that scientific advancement occurs through radical transformations—what he famously termed scientific revolutions—triggered by the exhaustion and eventual breakdown of dominant paradigms when they prove incapable of accommodating new empirical or theoretical demands. This article examines the epistemological significance of the paradigm concept and analyzes Kuhn’s revolutionary model of scientific development through a critical reading of his major works
