One of the most striking developments in higher education in this new era of the 21st century has been the rise of English as a medium of instruction (EMI). Algeria, in turn, is making great strides towards an ambitious transition, with its universities moving from traditional teaching in Arabic and French to a more modern mode of instruction offered by the adoption of English. The aim of this study is to take stock of the operation to train teachers at the University of Algiers 3 in English and to try to diagnose the effective application of this directive from its inception at the end of 2022 to the present day, as well as its development. We are going to highlight the various brakes or obstacles likely to slow down its propulsion, and thus try to propose the conditions for the success of this transition; by adopting a descriptive analytical approach to the data collected from the learner teacher.
