Abstract: This article examines Nawal El Saadawi's perceptions of the myth of the Arab woman, who strives to reclaim her place in a patriarchal society. She refuses to submit to its authority and live under oppression and injustice—as she sees it—even at the cost of the erosion of moral, religious, and social values, and everything that hinders women's liberation from the servitude of men and the Creator of humanity. The main purpose of this study is to reveal to the reader, through El Saadawi's works, what she considers creative in describing the situation of contemporary Arab women and the hardships they endure. However, her approach to the subject is surprising and perplexing, offering exceptional interpretations that almost seem to stray from the bounds of free and positive thought, particularly regarding the happiness society seeks for women, as well as for men, families, and society as a whole. Nevertheless, we will attempt to explore the works of this critic of everything and nothing, and the resulting preemptive responses, to determine whether her perceptions fall within the realm of creative rationality.
