Parkinson's Disease: Between The Clinical Diagnostic Gap And Therapeutic Horizons A Neuropsychological Study

Authors : Ouada Fathi .

Abstract

Abstract: Parkinson's disease is considered one of the most prominent neurodegenerative disorders that face significant challenges in diagnosis and treatment. The diagnostic challenge lies in the absence of precise biological tests, making the diagnosis reliant on clinical symptoms particularly motor symptoms such as tremors and bradykinesia, which may overlap with other diseases, complicating the diagnosis, especially in the early stages. On the therapeutic front medication remains the primary treatment to compensate for dopamine deficiency, but it causes side effects with prolonged use. Meanwhile, deep brain stimulation (DBS) offers partial solutions in advanced cases. Despite recent advancements, such as the use of neuroimaging and genetic techniques, the disease still lacks a curative treatment, necessitating continued research to improve diagnosis and develop more effective therapies.
