This study works parallel to the memory, silence and feminist resistance of Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse and Sahar Khalifeh’s We Are No Longer Your Slaves. The study uses feminist and narrative analysis to examine how Woolf’s modernist methods, such as stream-of-consciousness and temporal changes, uncover women’s inner consciousness as well as the shaping of identity, and Khalifeh situates female experience within social and political oppression of Palestinian society, highlighting women’s struggle against patriarchal and colonial oppression. It illustrates how authors present the tension between silence and voice, personal and collective memory, and nation and national histories with juxtaposition of these two works. The comparative study provides a deeper insight into the universal and culturally specific nature of women’s resistance, and suggests that literature can be used as an instrument of self-expression, social criticism, and agency negotiation.
