Authors : Benzarour Kheireddine .

Abstract

Abstract: This study sheds light on how news is constructed in Algerian radio, using the local Al-Bahdja Radio as a model for analysis. As a medium close to the public, radio not only conveys news but also serves as a platform for awareness, education, and the expression of citizens' concerns. The study focused on analyzing a sample of news bulletins to uncover the nature of the issues at the top of the news agenda. It also monitored the time allocated to events, the sources used in coverage, and the geographical scope of interest. It also examined the news values that govern news selection and the journalistic genres employed in its formulation and broadcast. It also highlighted the influential figures in the bulletins and the prominent role of the communicator in setting media priorities. The results confirm that Al-Bahdja Radio tends to focus on local issues, in harmony with the identity and interests of its audience, while simultaneously contributing to highlighting development initiatives, reflecting its social and communication mission. The study indicated that local media, through radio, remains an effective tool for promoting community belonging and a strategic element in supporting sustainable development at the local and national levels.
