This study compares Algeria's Green Dam Project (1970s) and the U.S. Shelterbelt Project (1930s) to analyze the role of green jobs in sustainable development. Both initiatives were large-scale responses to environmental crises—desertification and the Dust Bowl, respectively—aimed at combining ecological restoration with economic relief through mass employment. By examining their historical contexts and outcomes, the research highlights how environmental infrastructure projects can successfully drive socio-economic stability. The findings provide critical lessons for modern policymakers on designing programs that effectively integrate climate action with job creation.
