This study examines the evolution of renewable energy in Algeria over the period 2020-2024, using installed capacity as a structural indicator of renewable energy infrastructure development.it analyses growth trends and the technological composition of the national energy mix. A development-oriented perspective is incorporated through the use of the watts per capita indicator (W/capita), allowing for a more accurate assessment of renewable energy performance in relation to population dynamics. Consistent with SDG indicator 7.b.1 the analysis relies on IRENA statistical publications, using secondary time-series data on renewable installed capacity combined with population data within an international per capita framework. The Results indicate modest and volatile growth in renewable installed capacity, largely dominated by solar power, with limited contribution from wind energy. Furthermore, no sustained improvement is observed in per-capita capacity, mainly due to population growth which offsets infrastructure expansion.
