Considering the harmful impact of synthetic fungicides, strategies for combating the Fusarium genus are now focusing on the use of natural substances in order to preserve food safety. The objective of the study was to evaluate in vitro the antifungal effect of cypress leaf extracts on Fusarium culmorum and Fusarium oxysporum. Eight concentrations (0,064; 0,161; 0,322; 0,645; 1,290; 1,935; 2, 58 and 3,225 mg/mL) were used to measure linear growth and calculate the inhibition rate compared to the control (90 mm).the cypress extract demonstrated a strong dose-dependent antifungal effect against Fusarium oxysporum, mycelial growth was significantly reduced from 90 mm (control) to 31, 67 mm at the highest concentration (3, 225) mg/mL), representing 64, 81% inhibition. Statistical analysis confirmed the high significance of the effect of cypress extract (p˂0,001). The calculated IC50 was 0,645 mg/mL, highlighting the potential of this extract as a sustainable alternative to synthetic fungicides. Nevertheless, tests carried out on F. culmorum show that this efficacy is not perfect, even at the maximum dose of 3,225 mg/mL, with a diameter reduction of only 68, 33 mm compared to 90 mm for the control, representing an inhibition percentage of 24%. The IC50 was not reached within the tested concentration range.
