Abstract
To address household waste management (HWM), Algeria has implemented a Household and Similar Waste Management Program (PROGDEM). As part of our contribution, we intend to highlight its opportunities by presenting its various areas of focus and its ability to reduce waste quantities under conditions that guarantee environmental and public health protection. The aim will be to examine the extent to which this program has succeeded in sustainably addressing the issue of waste management. We will then attempt to outline an assessment of the areas implemented at the local level. In addition, we will attempt to demonstrate the extent to which the expected objectives have been achieved.
