This study explores the emerging field of environmental entrepreneurship in Algeria by focusing on young entrepreneurs developing green startups, with the aim of understanding the motivational drivers, value orientations, and innovative approaches that shape their entrepreneurial engagement in a largely underexplored context. Using a qualitative research design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the owners of five Algerian green startups, and the data were analyzed through thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns in motivations, values, and practices. The findings indicate that these young environmental entrepreneurs are motivated by a combination of intrinsic factors, such as personal commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, and extrinsic factors, including perceived market opportunities and community impact, while their value orientations strongly emphasize ecological stewardship, innovation, and societal contribution. At the same time, the study reveals limitations in the adoption of advanced environmental innovations, pointing to the need for updated strategies, knowledge transfer, and stronger support mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness and scalability of green ventures. By contributing empirical evidence from a developing economy, this research advances theoretical understanding of environmental entrepreneurship and offers practical implications for policymakers and practitioners, highlighting the importance of targeted training, access to sustainable technologies, and supportive policy incentives to foster a more robust ecosystem for ecological innovation in Algeria.
