The four entrepreneurial competencies identified in this study as essential to success in the artificial intelligence (AI) age were identified through an integrative review of the literature. The traditional entrepreneurial competency of opportunity identification fails to explain opportunity identification in an era where AI is ubiquitous. The four competencies developed into the framework are 1. algorithmic literacy and a data strategy for responsible AI governance, 2. hyper-adaptability, which enables iterative execution due to real-time insights from AI and the ability to pivot quickly, 3. human-centered creativity and empathy, which take advantage of human characteristics, such as vision, and the ability to understand and feel emotions, that AI cannot replicate, and 4. ethical and regulatory foresight, which allows entrepreneurs to anticipate the repercussions of AI deployment. The framework creates a transition from traditional efficiency-based business models to models of augmentation between humans and AI. This has significant implications for education, investment, and resiliency, demonstrated through multiple case studies, including Zest AI, Shopify, and Microsoft's Tay.
