This study examines prophetic infallibility as a key factor in the reliability of transmitting divine revelation in Islam and Christianity. It clarifies the difference between verbal revelation in Islam and inspiration in Christian tradition, and how this difference shapes confidence in the transmitted text. The study argues that, in Islam, infallibility functions as a safeguard against error and human interference in the core act of prophetic conveyance, whereas in Christianity it is commonly linked to the writing stage, with wording remaining within human effort. Drawing on Asad Rustum’s historical criticism rules, the study suggests that anonymous authorship and conciliar decisions tend to shift the locus of trust toward institutional authority rather than historically verifiable chains of transmission.
