Abstract

Abstract: The present study aims to investigate the relationship between psychological stress and the emergence of psychosomatic disorders, using diabetes as an applied model. The research relied on the clinical approach, as it provides an in-depth understanding of the studied case within its real and personal context. Three main tools were used: observation, clinical interview, and case study. A patient with diabetes, followed at the Annaba University Hospital Center, was selected to highlight how psychological factors (stress) interact with physiological factors (diabetes),in addition to applying the Stroop Test for psychological stress. The results indicated that chronic stress represents a risk factor in the exacerbation of psychosomatic disorders among diabetic patients as it contributes to the disruption of the psycho-physiological balance.
