Digital maps, from maritime navigation systems like ECDIS to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), have evolved into interactive interfaces linking perception, cognition, and culture. This study examines how such systems can foster inclusive spatial communication for Algerian artisans by integrating semiotic, cognitive, and cultural dimensions into digital cartographic design. How can GIS, inspired by maritime systems like ECDIS, become a cultural inclusive medium integrating artisans’ spatial and symbolic knowledge?
