الملخص

The novel "Tashari" by Anam Kijji receives a critical analysis through the lens of reception theory by Jauss and Iser, where the study reveals the interaction between the reader and the text through key mechanisms. The research relies on a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the narrative structure and its relationship with the reader. The concept of "horizon of expectation" by Jauss highlights how the novel frustrates the reader's expectations through non-linear storytelling and temporal shifts, reflecting the state of instability experienced by Iraqi characters. On the other hand, the "aesthetic distance" manifests in the tension between the self and the other, especially in the depiction of the identity struggle between the past and the present, homeland and exile. Moreover, the novel utilizes the concept of the "implied reader" and "filling in the gaps" by Iser, leaving open textual spaces in the narrative and within the characters, which encourages the reader to participate in meaning-making. This is also evident in the incomplete internal dialogues and open scenes for interpretation. The study concludes that the novel presents a rich model of interactive literature, integrating the complexities of Iraqi reality with the aesthetics of reception, making it capable of addressing diverse readers through multiple interpretations. The importance of the text lies in being an open space for dialogue between the reader and the literary work.
