Abstract: In the following pages of this article, we will examine a series of events that occurred in North Africa, especially in the western Mediterranean, which were of strategic significance to King Philip III. This importance arises not only from these areas serving as refuge territories for successive waves of Moriscos expelled from the Iberian Peninsula through royal decrees issued by the King and the Duke of Lerma, but also from their role as active fronts of resistance and conflict against the Regency of Algiers and the Algerian corsairs, deemed the most formidable naval threat to Spain and Christendom.
