The Impact Of Regional And International Transformations In The African Sahel Region On Algerian National Security

Abstract
Since the beginning of 2020, the Sahel region has witnessed a series of military coups, reshaping its geopolitical balance and impacting security and stability in the region and neighboring countries. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the impact of these political and security developments on Algerian national security, particularly in light of the marginalization of frameworks for security cooperation and coordination. The study concluded that Algeria faces unprecedented security challenges in its regional environment, in terms of their severity, complexity, and intensity, as a result of the geopolitical transformations taking place in the African Sahel region. This transformation has placed Algeria in a state of security fragility, exposing it to serious challenges that are being exploited to increase sources of threat and destabilize it. This could have an impact on international peace and security.
