Since its occupation of Algeria in 1830, France has maintained that the Sahara is an integral part of Algeria. However, when it discovered the many and varied treasures that abound in its interior, the wave of liberation began to sweep through the colonies and the Algerian Liberation Revolution was launched, and it became clear that it was impossible for it to remain in Algeria, it began to maneuver to separate and retain the Sahara, using political cunning at times, enticing the population at other times, and various pressures at times. However, the Algerian people in general and the people of the Sahara in particular rejected the idea. They consider the territorial and popular unity a sacred matter that cannot be compromised.
