Abstract: Writers have always acknowledged that their works are influenced by the writings of other authors, drawing from, reinterpreting, integrating, and transforming them. They share the belief that the act of writing stems from their readings. This notion of textual creation based on previous influences was theorized by Julia Kristeva under the term "intertextuality." The works of Julia Kristeva and Roland Barthes emphasize the concept of text dynamism, considering it as an evolutionary process rather than a static entity. Thus, the focus is no longer primarily on the original text, but rather on the subsequent work that draws inspiration from the first. The importance lies in the richness that the second text brings after appropriating a portion of the original text. This article examines the presence of this intertextual phenomenon in the novel Hizya by Maïssa Bey. Our research is based on an analysis of various writing elements that refer to intertextuality. In other words, we seek to understand how Maïssa Bey's text is constructed by integrating other texts. Our approach focuses on exploring writing techniques related to intertextuality, notably reference and quotation.
