The Impact Of Social Transfers On Economic Growth In Algeria: An Empirical Study Using The Ardl Model.

Authors : Bouziane Mohammed .

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social transfers in Algeria on economic growth through an econometric analysis based on the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The study employs Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the dependent variable, while the independent variables consist of various forms of government support. The results reveal that certain types of government support, such as housing and health subsidies, have a positive effect on economic growth. In contrast, other transfers—such as support for Mujahideen—were found to be statistically insignificant. The study also confirms the existence of a long-run equilibrium relationship between social transfers and economic growth, highlighting the importance of developing sustainable support policies to maximize benefits without placing undue pressure on the national budget.
