The Development Dimension Of The Algerian Security Approach Toward The Sahel Region Of Africa

Abstract
This article examines Algeria’s security aproach in the Sahel, highlighting its emphasis on development as a core component of regional stability. Algeria promotes a comprehensive security approach that integrates political, economic, and social dimensions to address the region's complex challenges. Recognizing that security is unattainable without development, Algeria supports various initiatives—both independently and in cooperation with neighbouring countries—to foster growth and stability. The article underscores Algeria’s understanding of the root causes of insecurity and its efforts to combat them through development. However, achieving tangible progress remains difficult due to regional fragility, cross-border threats, and an unstable environment that deters sustainable investment. While Algeria’s strategy is significant in linking development to security, the article concludes that broader regional and international cooperation is essential for the success and sustainability of development efforts in the Sahel يعالج المقال البعد التنموي للمقاربة الأمنية الجزائرية في منطقة الساحل الإفريقي، التي تعتبر أن التنمية عنصر أساسي لتحقيق الأمن في الإقليم. تتبنى الجزائر مقاربة أمنية شاملة تقوم على منطق الجمع بين البعد السياسي و العسكري و الاقتصادي الاجتماعي لمواجهة التحديات الأمنية.و انطلاقا من قناعتها بأن الأمن لا يتحقق من دون تنمية، دعمت الجزائر العديد من المبادرات سواء بشكل مستقل من خلال الوكالة الجزائرية للتعاون الدولي من أجل التضامن و التنمية، و منتدى رجال الأعمال الجزائر الساحل، أو بالتعاون مع الدول المجاورة من خلال مشروع خط أنبوب الغاز العابر للصحراء، مشروع الطريق الرابط بين تندوف و الزويرات، مشروع شبكة الألياف البصرية و مشروع الطريق العابر للصحراء إضافة إلى العمل ضمن مبادرات قارية كالنيباد. خلص المقال إلى أن تحقيق الأمن الشامل و المستدام أمر صعب بسبب التهديدات الأمنية العابرة للحدود، والبيئة الأمنية غير المستقرة و الهشة، لذلك فان إنجاح هذه المجهودات مرهون بتعاون دولي و إقليمي واسع.
