Many developing economies, including Algeria, heavily rely on hydrocarbons as the primary source of revenue and economic activity. However, such dependence exposes them to significant risks, including market volatility, environmental harm, and limited economic diversification. This paper argues that reducing Algeria’s reliance on rent-based income and pursuing diversification is essential for developing policies that promote long-term stability, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Through an analytical approach, the study utilizes theoretical literature, empirical research, and statistical data from credible sources. The findings indicate that Algeria’s current economic strategies and policies have largely failed, as evidenced by the country’s ongoing economic challenges
