Financial Fraud In The Era Of Digital Transformation

Authors : Farah Aicha .

Abstract

Financial fraud constitutes a serious economic offense, exacerbated by the increasing digitalization and the rapid expansion of financial technologies. This crime encompasses various schemes, including phishing, crypto jacking, and fraudulent initial coin offerings (ICOs). These deceptive practices present complex challenges, prompting jurisdictions to adopt legal frameworks such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) in the United States, and the Budapest Convention. Additionally, Interpol and Europol play a critical role in facilitating international cooperation, enabling cross-border enforcement against cyber-enabled financial fraud.
