Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between socio-demographic factors, specifically age and gender (male/female), and therapeutic adherence in insulin-dependent diabetic patients. The study was conducted at the Diabetes Center in Medea, and a descriptive approach was adopted with a sample of 59 patients (31 female and 28 male), aged between 30 and 80 years. The sample was selected purposefully, and we used the therapeutic adherence scale for kidney failure, developed by François Mai (1999), which was translated by several researchers, including Znad Dalila. We performed a psychometric evaluation of the scale, measuring its validity and reliability, and applied it to the sample to obtain the final results.
