Authors : Serbah Aziza . Hamou Zaabi .

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between Banking Governance and performance of State-Owned Banks in Algeria over the period 2010-2020, to achieve this objective an analytical descriptive approach was employed using data sourced from annual reports of Algerian Central Bank. The Findings of this research reveal that while Banking Governance practices have shown potential in enhancing bank’s performance, the current practices adopted have proven insufficient in addressing the public banks' underperforming, and these banks are facing challenges within the economic context and influenced by government policies. Consequently, the study suggested recommending that Algerian monetary authorities should undertake further measures for adopting best practices in Banking Governance through benchmarking successful models.
